Q: What is loan entrance counseling? If you are borrowing a Federal Direct Loan at UNI for the first time, you must attend a Loan Entrance Counseling Session before you are eligible to receive your loan proceeds. You may complete the Loan Entrance Counseling on the web at http://www.dlservicer.ed.gov or attend a Loan Entrance Counseling Session held during the summer orientation. Q: What is loan exit counseling? All students who either graduate, leave UNI, or drop below half time enrollment and have borrowed a Stafford Loan (subsidized or unsubsidized) through either the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) or the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program (Direct Lending) or have received a loan through Federal Perkins or Federal Supplemental (SLS) Loan programs must attend a loan exit interview. These meetings are held each semester on campus. You may also complete exit counseling on the Web. If you have received a PIN number from the Department of Education, you may conduct your exit counseling at http://www.dlservicer.ed.gov. (If you have not received your PIN number, you may request one at www.pin.ed.gov.) |
