The UNI Classic Upward Bound Program participates in the State of Iowa Summer Food Service Program. What this program allows Upward Bound to do is to receive funds for meals served during the residential program at the University of Northern Iowa. This helps defray the cost of boarding our students during the summer enrichment program. By following meal requirements, our students are participating in this program for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their meals are checked for the proper menu items on each plate brought through by each student.
One of the greatest assets of the Classic Upward Bound program are our alumni and their parents/guardians. The Iowa TRiO Alumni Association seeks to keep TRiO alumni up-to-date on current events and to help alumni network with each other. The following are the links to the website and the registration form to become connected. Please take a moment to complete the registration and become a member of the TRiO Alumni Association. With your help, as alumni, we can make Iowa TRiO programs even stronger and more recognized throughout the state of Iowa and the United States.
Hello all program scholars and parents. We will be traveling to Des Moines on November 6, 2013 to visit Drake and Grand View Universities. Please click the link below to print off a permission slip. They will also be made available at the Waterloo High Schools either Friday afternoon or Monday morning. Hope to see many of these turned in!

Last year, the University of Northern Iowa Classic Upward Bound program had an incredible opportunity to participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge program. This program emphasizes the importance of science and technology engineering in our ever changing, highly sophisticated, technological world. The Upward Bound program assembled a group of interested program scholars to develop, design and create a robot to enter into competitions. During these competitions, scholars from around the state of Iowa competed for the opportunity to make it to regional, national and world-wide competitions.
As the summer program draws near we, as a staff, are in need of information regarding what students will be attending our summer program. If you have not turned in a summer participation form please send it to the UNICUE as soon as possible because we will begin interviewing rising 8th graders very soon and will fill vacant spots. If you have not received a summer participation form please contact UNICUE or, at tutorials, talk to your site supervisor to retrieve a new form. Please get this information in as soon as possible.
