The UNI Emeritus Association,
from its beginning, has received valued financial support from the office of the
Vice President and Provost and from the Office of the Vice President for
University Advancement. The Association is grateful for that continuing support.
Nevertheless, like other
organizations, the Association incurs expenses that fall outside the confines of
regular institutional support. For example, we need to fund flowers and
decorations, music, guest meals, and some aspects of printing, mailing and
office supplies.
From time to time the Advisory
Council considered assessing annual dues, but did not approve that route to
reserve financing. Recently, however, discussion turned to a plan for soliciting
voluntary contributions. These funds, deposited in a special account in the UNI
Foundation, would be available to meet the cost of expenditures not covered by
regular institutional budgets. Moreover, these reserve funds would make it
possible for UNIEA to consider new programs and projects that could enhance
services to the membership and strengthen the impact of our Association on the
affairs of the university.
Members of the Council believe
the Association is worthy of your financial support. The activities of the
Association - such as monthly lunches, Annual Luncheon and Annual Meeting - are
opportunities to stay in touch with colleagues and with the university. Our
publications - such as the Members List, the By Laws and the Newsletter - help
maintain communication among dispersed as well as local emeriti/a.
We encourage you, therefore, to
contribute to the Association and ask that you write your check to the UNI
Emeritus Association, and mail it in the postage-paid envelope enclosed. (Your
contribution is tax-deductible and a receipt will be sent if required by IRS
regulations.)
How much should you contribute?
The Council suggests a range of $15-$50, bearing in mind that we will not
solicit your help annually, but only for justifiable need. We look forward to
your participation in this effort.
And thanks.
Most sincerely yours,
The Officers and the Advisory Council of the UNI
Emeritus Association:
