New Login Block

A new login block was created on the UNI eLearning homepage to better channel users via the best authentication method. UNI and Camp Adventure users will login via the Central Authentication System (CAS) login page; the same login page for MyUNIverse and UNI Email. The benefit will be that if your CatID passphrase has expired, you will be prompted to change it. Allen College and NPPS users will login via the UNI eLearning login page as normal.

Faculty are invited to a professional development session from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM., Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in the Center for Multicultural Education (CME). Jason Vetter, educational technology, and Susan Hill, philsophy & world religions, will highlight turnitin, a tool to teach students about plagiarism and tips for grading papers efficiently.

Online Course Development Awards: Summer/Fall 2013

The Office of Continuing and Distance Education is accepting proposals for course development awards for faculty interested in converting an existing course to a fully online format using the UNI eLearning System. Proposals for summer and fall 2013 courses are due November 30, 2012. Guidelines and a proposal form are available online. Awards include a $1,000-per-credit-hour course-development stipend and a $1,000 professional-development stipend for attending Quality Matters workshops on January 3 and 4, 2013. Your username and password for UNI eLearning is set to your CatID. Use the same username and password you use for MyUNIverse and UNI Email. If you are having trouble logging into UNI eLearning, please try logging into MyUNIverse.

For security reasons, your CatID password expires every 90 days. If your CatID has expired, you will first need to log into MyUNIverse with your username and expired password. Once you have changed your password and can successfully log into MyUNIverse, use the same username and new password to log into UNI eLearning.

November 1, 2012 - "No space left on device" errors

On November 1, 2012 starting at approximately 8:00 PM, some users experienced "No space left on device" errors while trying to uploading files, attachments, or content or submit assignments with attachments, etc. This issue occurred on ONLY one of the two UNI eLearning application nodes.

Instructors: If your students reported receiving the "No space left on device" error, please allow the students some leeway or allow them to submit additional attempts. If you have any questions on a student's claim, please complete the "Contact eLearning Support" form and provide the class, assignment, and as many details about what the student is claiming.

Blackboard Learn Mobile App Updated

Notifications from the UNI eLearning System

With the installation of Service Pack 9 (SP9), there is a possibility that you may receive old or outdated notifications from the UNI eLearning System (elearning@uni.edu). This would apply to only those users who had previously setup email notifications.
Service Pack 9 contains numerous patches; some of which improved the collection and distribution of course notifications. We apologize for the confusion of the old/outdated notifications; however, we did not want to clear all notifications prior to installing SP9 and risk deleting legitimate notifications.

The restart was necessary after an issue occurred this morning with the external storage unit that houses the content and log directories for the UNI eLearning System. Our LMS Server Admin team is investigating the incident and will provide an update when further information is available. The UNI eLearning System appears to be operating as normal again. The Panopto Live Classroom Capture system, including any Panopto links in UNI eLearning courses, will NOT be available during this time period.

After this upgrade, all desktop recording software will have to be upgraded. The software will be available from http://panopto.uni.edu once the upgrade is complete.

UNI eLearning courses are created in an "unavailable" state. This means an instructor has access to the course, but students do not see the course listed in their My Courses module until instructors make the course available.

The old version of the UNI eLearning System, WebCT CE8, would not restart after the planned maintenance do to a problem connecting to the database. The cause of the problem (network or database) cannot be determined at this time. The appropriate personnel have been contacted.

The WebCT CE8 eLearning System is expected to be unavailable until at least 9:00 AM Wednesday morning.

This outage is necessary to increase the java session timeout on the Bb Learn 9 eLearning System and to apply a license key to the WebCT CE8 eLearning System.

Both versions of the UNI eLearning System, WebCT CE8 (old) and Bb Learn 9 (new), will not be available during this period.

All Fall 2011 eLearning courses were populated with students by 7:01 AM this morning, Saturday, August 13, 2011. All Fall 2011 student enrollment is imported into the UNI eLearning System daily, so all enrollment changes (adds/drops) should be automatically processed.

During these workshops, you will take one of your existing eLearning classes and migrate it to the new Bb Learn 9 system. Several workshops have been added to the schedule in July and August.
