The Student Science Teachers Association is a future teachers organization that takes you out of the books and into a new perspective on teaching!


SSTA Constitution

OBJECTIVES: The objectives of this organization shall be to promote interaction between students, alumni, and faculty interested in science education, and provide input to faculty and administration regarding the science education program and curriculum development.

OFFICERS: Officers shall be elected by a simple majority vote at regular business meetings. Only voting members shall be eligible to become officers. The officers shall consist of an Executive Council of four equal members.

MEMBERSHIP: Membership is open to all interested students, faculty, and alumni of the University of Northern Iowa. A voting member is a dues paying member. The percentage of student to non-student members shall not exceed 90 to 10. The organization shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, handicap, or veteran status.

VOTING AND DUES: Any vote shall be valid only when a quorum of at least 25% of the current voting membership is present. Dues shall be established by approval of a 2/3 vote at a regular business meeting.

The purpose of retreats is to get away from campus and discuss some ideas, problems, questions we may have about our future career. Also we get a chance to know our profs as human and hear some of their teaching ideas and philosophies.
