Sigma Gamma Epsilon
The Earth Sciences Honor Society
Sigma Gamma Epsilon (or SGE) has been a focal point for the students
in the Earth Science department for quite some
time. The society organizes field trips, gatherings and activities which
are open to all. In the past, the group has gone on fossil collecting trips
to the Rockford quarry, gathering geodes down in Keokuk and caving in Eastern
Iowa. The members of SGE also strive to make the Earth
Science department and the student room in particular a fun and valuable
resource.

Membership into SGE is based upon GPA and credits in Earth Science courses.
Most faculty in the Department of Earth Sciences
are members and take part in the events along with the students. If you
are interested in membership, you may want to check out the
National
SGE homepage, or talk to one of the student members.
