Faculty and Students at Annual National Geology Conference

Earth Science faculty and students attended the national meeting of the Geological Society of America in Minneapolis, October 9-12.  Approximately 15 students including current department majors Matt Even, Chris Britt, Maddie Pike, Nick Bosshart, Josh Shultz, Stephanie Hogan, Chelsie Thompson, John Chesley and Elle Johnson presented the results of their research with faculty on a variety of geoscience topics, such as a Capstone course involving environmental study in Italy, photosymbiosis in fusulinids, mapping Iowa surface erosion, and groundwater contamination.  Faculty from the department making presentations at the conference included Dr. Chad Heinzel, Dr. Kyle Gray, Dr. John Groves, Dr. Mohammad Iqbal and Dr. James Walters, and adjunct instructor Dr. Lee Potter.
