We’re completing the first important week of the semester and it is memorable for so many reasons! The families, staff and volunteers did an exceptional job supporting move-in last weekend. Hall programming is well underway, residence hall rooms have been decorated and the dining centers have risen to the task of serving thousands of meals each day. Thank-you, all, for your part in making it a smooth week.
In August, the Department of Residence re-opened Piazza dining center with 240 additional seats, opened the all-new Biscotti’s convenience store in Redeker Center and welcomed 246 upper-class students moving into brand new apartments in Panther Village. Through the months of construction, the campus community was generous with their cooperation when there were unavoidable inconveniences.
Your involvement in the Department of Residence will give you valuable opportunities to practice self-reliance, collaboration with others, leadership and citizenship. These skills and experiences will distinguish your resume and contribute to success in your relationships and in your career. These are years to try many different things and to interact with many different people. I encourage you to make the most of it!
Your RA, Peer Advisor in Residence (PAIR), hall staff, facilities staff and dining staff are each dedicated to your development and your safety. We have a good thing going at UNI and your high expectations for an exceptional experience here are well placed! We’re here to help you realize your academic and social aspirations.
Have a great semester!
Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs and Executive Director of Residence
