The UNI Residence Hall Association (RHA) first social justice and sustainability event exceeded every expectation for participation. 

The TOMS One for One shoes event included selling TOMS shoes for $25 per pair.  A pair of shoes was donated to a child in need for every pair of TOMS shoes sold. The social justice and sustainability committee had set an initial goal to sell 100 pairs of shoes.  However, the promotion attracted sales of 488 pairs of shoes.

Dining staff members involved more than 200 UNI employees in the dining exhibit at the campus wellness fair.  New recipes (see below) were taste-tested and nutrition information was distributed.

Biscotti’s (the convenience store and bakery) and the computer lab in Redeker Center will be relocating to the lower level of Shull Hall for spring semester 2013.  The hours for Biscotti’s will remain the same and hours for the computer lab will be the same as Biscotti’s.

UNI Department of Residence has a dietitian on staff.  Lisa Krausman promotes healthy menus, provides nutrition information and works with students on individual dietary issues.  An example of information available to students because of Lisa's expertise is the "Top Ten Healthy Choice" menu items currently featured in UNI dining facilities.  Menu options earning a "Top Ten" designation meet at least three of the following guidelines:

The staff in Campbell Hall has communicated a clear plan for residents to get connected during the first six weeks of classes.  A clever Passport campaign includes hall history and a house directory, along with pages for “destination” stamps earned for attending programs and other outreach opportunities.
