Questions and answers about summer housing

Which halls will be open for summer?
ROTH and Panther Village will be open for summer occupancy. If demand exceeds supply in ROTH and Panther Village, Shull will also be open with window air conditioning units.

Is on-campus housing available to students who currently live off campus?

Do students have to be enrolled in summer school?
No, students who are enrolled spring 2014 and/or fall 2014 are eligible to live on campus over the summer.  This option is also available to Hawkeye Community College students who have spring 2014 or fall 2014 contracts to live on campus.
Other college students who are in the Cedar Valley for internships may apply for summer housing on campus.

What is the minimum stay?
Summer housing fees are calculated weekly.  There is a 1-week minimum.

What are the dates for available summer housing?
Summer housing in ROTH and Panther Village will be available May 10 – August 1
Students with a fall semester contract in residence halls, ROTH or Panther Village may request continuous housing after August 1.

How will the summer housing be billed?
Summer housing will be billed the first of each month in which there is at least one week of housing.
Summer housing payment will be due the 20th of each month in which there is a least one week of housing.

Are meal plans required?
Meal plans are not required for summer housing.

Are meal plans available?
Rialto in Towers Center will be open weekdays.  Meal Deals are the summer mea plan: 20, 40 and 60 Meal Deals are available.  Meal Deals purchased for summer will carry over to fall semester.  Meal Deals may be used for guests.
Meals may be purchased with cash or charge at Rialto in Towers Center or at Prexy’s in Maucker Union.  The cash rate at Rialto is
Breakfast: $8   
Lunch and Dinner:  $9.95.  
Menu items at Prexy’s in Maucker Union are priced ala cart.  Hours and menus are available online.

What is provided in the rent agreement?
The rent agreement in ROTH and Panther Village includes, Resnet and cable television, all utilities, furnished apartments and kitchen appliances.  Microwaves are provided in Panther Village.   You will need to bring your personal supplies, bedding and kitchen supplies for cooking and storing food. Televisions are not provided.  Computer labs and exercise rooms will be open.  ROTH and Panther Village have indoor mailboxes and hall offices.  Residence Life Coordinators and RAs will support the summer housing experience at UNI.

What is the cost for parking over the summer?
Summer parking information
