CSILE Becomes Knowledge Forum, August 1997

  1. Knowledge Forum Information -- 120 Users $2000
  2. Knowledge Forum: a second generation CSILE product.
  3. Progressive Curriculum & Knowledge Building Uses of Networked Multimedia Resources
  4. Students using CSILE, the first generation of Knowledge Forum, outperformed the control groups on both standardized tests and knowledge tests.
  5. Knowledge Forum promotes student interaction through referencing, connecting ideas, sharing authorship, and 'building-on' the work of others to advance knowledge.
  6. Specially-designed scaffolds support social and cognitive operations that further understanding. Students select different scaffolds to support processes such as reading difficult material, theory-building, and debate.
  7. Using Knowledge Forum, students create notes to represent their ideas.
