Cedar Valley Celtic Music and Dance Society

The Cedar Valley Celtic Music and Dance Society's goal is promoting Celtic music and dance education, fostering Celtic music and dance appreciation in the community and expanding Celtic music and dance experiences in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area.

With the UNI Gaelic Club and the UNI Folk and Ballroom Dancers , the Cedar Valley Celtic Music and Dance Society host Celtic music jam sessions each first Friday of the month, September through May, at the Vibe Coffeeshop on 23rd Street in Cedar Falls. During these informal sessions, participants have the opportunity to learn to play or sing Celtic music. Participants (musicians) and listeners alike are welcome.

We also co-sponsor Celtic dance lessons to learn and perform Irish ceili dances and Scottish country dances during the falls and spring semesters at UNI. These types of dances are social dances where couples usually dance in lines or squares.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Cedar Valley Celtic Music and Dance Society, learning more about Celtic music sessions or would like to join us in learning Celtic dance, please e-mail michelle.ozmun@uni.edu or call 277-5115.
