Courses:  Teaching and Development (University of Northern Iowa)

·        350:010 Library Orientation - Open to any freshmen, sophomores, & transfers of all colleges, this course introduces students to the facilities and resources of Rod Library and basic foundation skills for the use of a university library.  Teaching involves collaborative planning with the instructor who teaches additional sections of the same course and following a common syllabus to assure consistency for students in various sections.

·        Fall, 2003, on campus

·        350:289 Seminar:  Information Literacy and Inquiry Learning – A required course in the School Library Media Studies master’s degree, the purpose of the course is to help future library media specialists become better teachers of inquiry through collaboration with classroom teachers through acquisition of accurate information about the topics of information literacy and inquiry learning in the context of education, effective thinking about the research to support information literacy and inquiry, and internalization of social attitudes, interests, appreciations, and sensitivities to issues related to information literacy and inquiry, such as teacher standards, school curriculum, accountability and assessment, and content and process learning.  I completely redesigned this course in 2002 at the request of the Division Coordinator of School Library Media Studies and made significant revisions each semester.
