2014-2015 School Year CSI Events

First General Meeting

Mark your calendars for our first General Meeting of the school year scheduled for Tuesday October 21 at 6pm in Sabin 15.  All current members and interested students should plan to attend this meeting to learn more about upcoming events and opportunities with CSI.

2014 Research Symposium

Scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th at 5pm in the Seerley Reading Room. This event is a great opportunity to see what the incredible students in our program are up to!  We hope you can join us to celebrate our students and learn more about their research topics.

Out of the Darkness

This year CSI will help organize and run the Out of the Darkness walk here at UNI.

Out of the Darkness raises awareness and funding for suicide research and prevention.  We will be organizing a committee who will work with Christy Kessens (an adjunct at UNI) to plan the event.  The responsibilities will include raising community awareness and participation, recruiting local sponsors, organizing walk day events, and more!  The event will be take place this spring.

If you are interested in this unique opportunity for leadership and advocacy please email adrienne.n.latoure@gmail.com and attend the general meeting to get more information or to be a part of the committee!

Mental Health Institute visit scheduled for November 14
CSI has scheduled a trip to the Mental Health Institute in Independence.

A few of us visited MHI last spring and learned so much about mental health services in Iowa.  We are excited to offer the opportunity to visit MHI again this fall!  Our group is scheduled to visit MHI on Friday, November 14 at 1pm.  The tour takes between 1-2 hours.  This is a FREE tour of MHI open to all students and anyone you know who would be interested in this opportunity.

We will send an email and do sign-ups at the general meeting to coordinate potential car pools.  Make sure to mark your calendar for this great opportunity!

Program T-shirt Orders

CSI will be selling program t-shirts this fall!

Keep your eyes our for an email with the t-shirt design and how to order later this semester!
