2011 Purple and Old Gold Award-Sociology

The Purple and Old Gold Award is awarded annually by the faculty to the most outstanding graduating senior in each departmental major - sociology, anthropology, and criminology. This year's sociology award winner, Jennifer Nulty, a double major in sociology and political communications, continues to distinguish herself through her academic excellence, her independent research regarding the influence of childhood family structure on adult religiosity, her study abroad experiences in Japan, and her tireless lobbying efforts on behalf of UNI students as Director of Governmental Relations for the Northern Iowa Student Government. After spending a year volunteering overseas after graduation, Jenny plans to return to the states to pursue a Ph.D. in sociology.
