Sergeant First Class Bryan Swift-National Guard Recruiter
SFC Swift was born in Iowa City, IA. He enlisted in the Iowa National Guard in June 1997. He attended Basic Training at Ft. Leonardwood , MO followed by AIT in Ft. Gordon, GA where he was awarded the MOS of 31C (Radio Transmission Operator). Upon returning from AIT, he was a member of the 134th MED CO in Washington, IA. In June of 1999, he moved to Rockville, MD and became a member of the 1-113rd IN BN and the Maryland National Guard. While there he re-classed to 31U (Signal Systems Support Specialist) and served during Operation Noble Eagle I at Aberdeen Proving Grounds and Operation Noble Eagle III at Adelphi, MD. During that time he attended the Primary Leadership Development Course in Ft. Indian Town Gap, PA. Shortly after Noble eagle III, SFC Swift transferred back to the Iowa National Guard to deploy to Iraq. He served as the Communications NCO for HHC 224th ENG CO in Fairfield, IA. After supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom III in Ar Ramdi, Iraq from 1 January 2005 to 9 December 2005, he moved to Henderson, NV and became a member of the 777th ENG CO and the Nevada National Guard. While in the Nevada National Guard he re-classed to 19K (Plumber). In April of 2007, he returned to Iowa and became a member of the 334th BSB in Waterloo, IA. While assigned to the 334th, he re-classed to 91B (Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic). In May of 2008, he volunteered for a State Emergency in Parkersburg for the tornado that struck the Parkersburg community. Two weeks later he was called to help with the floods of 2008 that swept through the area. During that time he helped in Waterloo/Cedar Falls and Ottumwa areas with many different missions. In October 2008 he became a Recruiter for the Iowa National Guard. After completing the Basic Recruiting School, he was assigned to the Waterloo Team. SFC Swift attended the 79T Conversation Course in August of 2011. In May of 2013 he was assigned to the UNI Campus and became part of the ROTC Program.
