2nd BA and Teacher Certification

Below are the different categories you might fit into and what you need to do:

  1. BA from UNI in a Social Science (History, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology or Political Science)
    • Complete Teacher Education Program (32 hours)
    • Take the Teaching of Social Studies (4 hrs)
    • Count on a minimum of 3 semesters.
    • Recommended that students add other Social Science Teaching Endorsements.
  2. BA or BS from another institution besides UNI.
    • Will need to declare a 2nd BA in your degree area or another area. UNI will not certify you teach with a BA/BS from another school and just the Teacher Education program from UNI.
    • Hours will vary. Most students can finish in a total of of 4 semesters.
      • Finish 2nd BA major courses (varies)
      • Complete Teacher Education Program (32 hours)
      • Take the Teaching of Social Studies (4 hrs)
