The University of Northern Iowa offers an Education of the Gifted Endorsement. Graduate students holding a current Iowa teaching certificate, or approved equivalent, may take the state-approved sequence of four courses to earn their endorsement.

Convenience through distance education

We recognize that multiple career and personal oblications, as well as travel limitations, may prevent you from taking courses on campus. As such, spring and fall courses for this program are offered Tuesday evenings, 6 to 9 p.m. via the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) and the web. The Summer 2010 course will be delivered asynchronously through an online web format during the June four-week session.

Tuition and fees

Graduate tuition is $374 per graduate credit hour for 2009-10, plus a technology fee of approximately $25 per course. Tuition and fees may increase in subsequent years.

Course delivery

Iowa Communications Network (ICN)
Courses in this program are offered primarily via the ICN. Delivery of ICN programs is limited to the state of Iowa.

MyCourses
Courses in this program have an online component utilizing MyCourses, a computer conferencing program requiring Internet access and a web browser — no additional software is required. Students may need access to someone who can assist with computer set-up.
