You will receive a class list from our office indicating who has submitted an enrollment form; however, please take roll at each site during the first couple of classes so that we can verify if a student has decided to drop the class or if someone is attending who has not yet enrolled. Report this information to our office after the second class.
Please allow at least one week for non-copyrighted materials to be copied and mailed to students. If it is a large packet of materials, or if typing needs to be done, please allow more time. When copyright permission is needed, allow a minimum of four weeks. The course syllabus should be in our office three to four weeks prior to the beginning of class so that it can be typed, duplicated and mailed in a timely manner.
Not every ICN classroom in the state has a fax machine and sometimes there are paper shortages and other problems with the ones that are in the rooms. As a matter of practice, instructors are encouraged to have our office mail materials in advance, or visit with the Continuing Education Instructional Developer about putting some of the materials on WebCT.
If you are giving a proctored exam, le our office know several weeks in advance so that we can arrange for an on-site proctor. Several students have informed us that it is very easy to cheat if the proctoring is done from the ICN origination site.
If you are going to miss a class for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can inform students and cancel the ICN rooms. If rooms are not cancelled 48 business hours in advance, we are billed for the line charges.
Once a class starts, we will usually not add any ICN sites without consulting with the instructor first. We know that instructors may like a certain number of students at each site, and may want only a certain number of sites. The financial considerations of line charges and room rent are relevant also.
If you wish to originate from a remote site, please let us know as soon as possibile so that we designate that site as the origination point. Continuing Education will pay travel and meal costs. It has been our experience that students at remote sites appreciate meeting the instructor in person, so keep this option in mind.
Sessions should be taped and tapes mailed to students only under extraordinary circumstances. For example, if inclement weather or technical difficulties cause one or several ICN sites to be closed while the class is going at other sites, taping would be a good alternative. One problem with students knowing that the taping option is easily available is that they may not make every effort to attend class. Please inform your class that students who request a tape when the class is available at their site will be charged $7.50 for each tape sent.
