Waterloo Teacher Leader Program - Professional Development for Teachers (MAE)
Preparing our teacher leaders for success
The University of Northern Iowa is planning to offer a graduate program in Teacher Leadership that leads to the Master of Arts in Education — Professional Development for Teachers. The purpose of this program is to facilitate the professional growth of teachers interested in assuming leadership roles in promoting school improvement and instructional leadership. Some courses taken as part of this degree can be counted towards licensure in Educational Administration.
Requirements for this degree include the completion of 33 units, successful completion of a school portfolio, an individual portfolio and an action research project.
- Customized - Work toward your goal with your fellow motivated Waterloo teacher leaders, using the same research used in the district, and building an instant network to connect with for years to come.
- Convenient - Meet at a central location in Waterloo and complete some coursework online at a time that best fits your schedule.
- Concise - Complete the program in five semesters, making it an affordable option that explores practical strategies and practices you can put to use right away.
Fall and spring semester courses will meet in-person Monday evenings at UNI's Center for Urban Education (CUE). The summer course schedule will be determined after assessing building and district needs. Some courses and coursework may be offered online via eLearning, an online Blackboard learning management system requiring Internet access and a web browser.
