Please note: Students interested in earning the MM degree are required to take the Departmental Diagnostic Examination. The purpose of this examination is to identify your strengths and weaknesses in music history and music theory. The diagnostic examination is used as a formative assessment to help guide your course of study. It is not used as a criteria for admissions decisions.
Convenient course delivery
Courses in this program are offered interactive video conferencing methods (including Adobe Connect) Monday evenings during fall and spring semesters. Some coursework is offered online using eLearning, a Blackboard learning management system requiring Internet access and a web browser. While most students encounter very few technical difficulties with our online courses, our team of support specialists is available to assist you as needed.
Summer sessions include some in-person instruction at UNI, set on a beautiful 900-acre campus. The city of Cedar Falls is a charming community, complete with a nationally recognized historic downtown, more than 100 miles of recreational trails, and a variety of cultural and entertainment experiences within walking distance of downtown.
Delivery of this program is contingent on a sufficient number of students being accepted into the program.
