Finding a Band
"I found my musician, Matt Weishaan, through a co-worker/friend at KHRK radio. She knew a lot of other bands in the area. She brought me a few numbers as well as a "cooperativeness" list, which detailed the bands that would be easy to work with."
-Lee Farquhar
"I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find a band, so I made up a number of fliers and left them at record stores in Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. I got 15 CD's through the mail! The hard work paid off: I worked with friends instead."
-Tim Nash
"Finding a band was not very difficult for me. I used to work at a piercing shop and many of the customers were band members. I attended many of the customers' concerts and I became good friends with one particular band, Innocence Broken. Because they had a CD released, I could use high quality audio instead of a rough recording."
-Tim Miller
"I had just arrived in a new town , when I was asked to do a music video. This can be difficult if you don't know any of the local bands. I allied with class mates who knew a band that would be willing to help. We worked on the music video together. Working as a group makes the work easier because you can split it between everyone."
-Signe Wagner
"If you live in a college town, you would think local bands would be everywhere. It's not the easiest finding a band that will allow you to take them in your own hands for a class project. Our band "SoulFusion" comes from the Cedar Falls area. Luke is on the drums, Tom is bass guitar, and Eric is on vocals and lead guitar. Together they bring audiences the sound of rock, oldies and reggae mixed with their own style."
-Ally Koch
"Finding a band may have been hard for some people, but it was relatively easy for me. I'm currently in two different bands. However, once we wrote the song, "Miss Cleo," I knew we had to make the video. Justin Ford and I had some interesting ideas for the shoot. We wanted to play off some of the lyrics."
