MELISSA BEALL was interviewed for an article for the September 2008 issue of Keying In magazine. She was inducted into the International Listening Hall of Fame and will be serving as the 1st Vice-President for the Pacific and Asian Communication Association for the next two years.
TOM HALL co-authored ''Who Gets to Decide'' which appeared in Business and Society Review.
CHRIS OBGONDAH had a chapter appear in Socio-political Scaffolding and the Construction of Change. He also had essays on Nigeria, Cameroon, Cape Verde, and Sao Tome in the book, Freedom of the Press 2007.
CHRIS MARTIN had a chapter on the decline of labor beats published in Knowledge Workers in the Information Age. He also had an essay on labor in the media appear in the International Encyclopedia of Communication.
VICTORIA DEFRANCISCO and CATE PALCZEWSKI were recognized on the ''short list'' (of five) books for the most outstanding gender and language book of 2008 by the International Gender and Language Association.
JOHN BURTIS and Paul Turman's book, Group Communication Pitfalls, was quite favorably reviewed in the journal Social Work with Groups. One of the ''interesting'' parts of the review was how the reviewer from social work was impressed with scholars in communication studies.
BETTINA FABOS directed the inaugural Camp MultiMedia. CMM@UNI was featured in a recent article in the Courier. Bettina also led the workshop for the Graduate College this summer. By all accounts, the workshop was a huge success.
