Five Communication Studies graduate students to present at College of Humanities and Fine Arts Graduate Research Symposium, April 3

The work of five graduate students has been competitively selected for presentation at the third annual College of Humanities and Fine Arts Graduate Research Symposium on Friday, April 3. Communication Studies students account for 5 of the 7 total presenters.

The students and their papers are:

1. Hue Duong Trong: "Using Communication Theories in Mine-Risk Education Campaigns: The Case of Vietnam"

2. Matt Foy: "Negotiating the Violent Writer/School Shooter Stereotype: How Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Public Fear Make Writing Violence Dangerous for High School and College Students"

3. Pilar Montoya: "Communication Dimensions of Supervisor-Subordinate Conflict: Perceptions by Subordinates of Sex/Gender Differences in Supervisors' Conflict Strategies"

4. Tanna White: "Socialization and Identification: Effects of Formal and Informal Socialization on the Identification Levels of Graduate Students and Graduate Assistants"

5. Kaori Yamada: "Rules for Becoming a Graceful Woman: Rhetorical Analysis of the Japanese Self-Help Book /Grace of Women/"
