Scholarships in Electronic Media

1. Iowa Broadcasters Association Scholarships (Application: Feb. 10)

The Iowa Broadcasters Association provides scholarship support to two declared Electronic Media majors each year.  The award will be $4000 per recipient. The scholarship is renewable. Apply here by Feb.10, 2012.

Criteria for the Iowa Broadcasters Association Scholarship are as follows:

Scholarships are awarded to declared Electronic Media majors for the semesters in which the scholarship is received.  Grant recipients must be enrolled for at least 12 hours of course credit for the semesters in which the scholarship is received.

2. Quarton McElroy/IBA Electronic Media Leadership Scholarship (Application:  extended through April 2, 2012)

Criteria: Electronic Media Major or Prospective; Deadline for application, Nov. 15, 2011. Upload statement of career interest in Electronic Media Leadership, including interest in media management, sales, and/or media trends and issues and names/contacts of three instructors or professionals for reference.  Must be enrolled at least 12 credit hours in the Electronic media Leadership emphasis program for the semesters in which the scholarship is received. Amount awarded: $2500 per academic year.

3. Tom Pettit Scholarship (Application: Feb. 15)

Criteria for the Tom Pettit Scholarship are as follows:

Declared Major in Electronic Media or Journalism OR have completed six hours in Journalism minor. Also Junior or Senior standing with career plans in communication. Student must be attending UNI the following semester or year. Amount awarded, $200.

4. Eugene Grossman Scholarship (Application: Feb. 15)

Criteria for the Eugene and Mary Grossman Scholarship are as follows:

Must be declared Junior or Senior Electronic Media Major who have completed more than 20 hours of major course work and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Must be enrolled for at least 12 hours of course credit for the semester in which the scholarship is received. Amount awarded varies. The Department of Communication Studies is an institutional member, so students in the department are encouraged to apply for BEA scholarships.

5. BEA scholarship (Application: October of each year)

BEA National Scholarships in Broadcasting (for academic year 2011-2012), Deadline for application, October  12, 2011.

6. Funding for Entrance Fees: Audio/Visual/Multimedia Projects for Contest/Competition (Application: As Needed)

Criteria: Electronic Media Major or Prospective; Project done for Electronic Media classes or Extracurricular; Faculty recommendation
