Research Interests

My research area centers on information technologies, the self and the community.

Personal/Professional Interests

To study the impacts of information technologies on the self, I have examined the construction of a narcissistic self via the Walkman, and the construction of the self by the radio D.J. via the microphone. When studying the information technologies and the community, I examined the Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club as an electronic community.    Currently, I am studying the presentation of self in cyberspace by examining the signature files, and the cyberspace as a public sphere by analyzing the communications in news groups.
