Teaching Interests

I design my classes with collaboration and interaction in mind. I believe that students learn best when they are involved in the learning process. I encourage students to provide examples and contribute to class lecture. Activities in class allow students to apply the material we discuss. In Oral Communication, students tend to be nervous about giving speeches. I want my classes to have an atmosphere that reduces that nervousness and builds confidence in delivery and organization. Students gain the knowledge necessary to give successful speeches in other courses on campus.

Personal/Professional Interests

I am a huge Panther fan and love supporting students in their extracurricular activities.  My family spends our free time attending events on campus, especially athletic events since my husband, Jeremiah, is an assistant football coach here at UNI.  It is wonderful to see our students succeeding in the classroom and in extracurricular areas of their lives.

I love spending time with our son Lane, 1 year.  He reminds me daily that balance in life is important and that the smallest things in life can be the most rewarding.
