Communication - Theatre Education
Communication - Theatre Education majors pursue studies in communication and theatre and in the methodology of teaching both disciplines in grades 5-12. This major is being restructured.

Electronic Media
The Electronic Media major is a broad-based program that provides students with a strong foundation in media production and management, and an understanding of the uses, processes and effects of mediated communication. Students gain industry experience through off-campus internships or co-ops. Electronic Media has two emphases -- the media industry leadership emphasis and production/performance emphasis
Opportunities for professional, hands-on experience on-campus are provided through applied media opportunities, such as the student managed radio station, KULT, and the media production company, Cedar River Productions. Resources include fully-equipped television studios, audio labs, digital cameras and audio equipment, editing stations, and the UNI campus cable television system.

Interactive Digital Communication
A new, innovative program, Interactive Digital Studies (IDS) is about creatively addressing the future. Students in IDS gain an arsenal of digital skills, a firm understanding of digital culture and theory, and a means for responding to our digital world. Most significantly, the program is a central meeting place for enabling collaboration among the many digitally oriented classes and professors at UNI.

Political Communication
In this interdisciplinary major, students analyze the intersections of communication and politics. Courses from a variety of departments introduce students to local, national and international political controversies and how communication affects their development.
