Karen Mitchell Wins National Award for Distinguished Performance
Communication Studies Professor Karen Mitchell has been selected for the Leslie Irene Coger Award for Distinguished Performance by the National Communication Association. The award was established in 1994 "to recognize a career dedicated to performance," according to the NCA.
Mitchell will receive the award at the NCA's 98th Annual Convention in November, in Orlando.
"Karen joins a list of recipients that includes many of the greatest minds of the Performance Studies discipline," said Prof. Paul Siddens, one of Mitchell's colleagues who nominated her for the award.
Mitchell teaches in Performance Studies in the Communication Studies Department, and has been on the faculty at UNI since 1991. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Southern Illinois University, and her Ph.D.from Louisiana State University.
