Donna Uhlenhopp Selected for 2013 Regents Staff Excellence Award
Donna Uhlenhopp, Office Coordinator for the Department of Communication Studies, has been selected as one of the 2013 Regents Staff Excellence Award recipients. The award is the highest recognition for staff at UNI and Iowa's other regents institutions.
"Your outstanding leadership, teamwork, integrity, service excellence, staff professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond for the University, the students and for your colleagues is commendable," wrote UNI President William Ruud.
Uhlenhopp was nominated by six professors in the department. In their nomination letter, they wrote "Donna has been our office manager for more than decade, and during this time we have been extremely aware of her contributions to our faculty, staff, and students on a daily basis. She is a complete professional who effectively weaves her leadership skills with her organizational skills to manage a large and demanding workload."
Uhlenhopp has worked in the Department of Communication Studies since 2001. Prior to her appointment in Communication Studies, she worked in the Provost's Office and in Continuing Education. She has been President of the Association of Educational Office Professionals (AEOP), and was actively involved with the group until it was disbanded in 2007. In the academic year 2003-04, she was chosen as AEOP professional of the year. She participated in and served as secretary of the Supervisory & Confidential Council. She also participated in the MEMFIS Use Group, RISCAC, and many SIS meetings.
