Director of Individual Events, Rebecca Buel

At UNI, Ms. Buel (M.A., University of Northern Iowa) has regularly coached students to elimination rounds at the American Forensics Association and National Forensics Association Nationals, as well as final rounds at national circuit tournaments. She coached the seventh place team in sweepstakes at NFA (2009), the 13th team in the nation at AFA (2011) and the 10th team in the nation in AFA (2012). Ms. Buel coached two AFA finalists in 2011, with six students making it to elimination rounds in 2012.

Director of Debate, Richard Tews

Richard Tews (M.A. Miami University) has coached UNI teams to the NDT, CEDA and the National Junior Division Debate Tournament (NJDDT) National Championships. In 2011, Mr. Tews coached the third place team at the NJDDT, and an NDT qualifying team in 2011. Prior to coaching at UNI, Mr. Tews qualified teams to the NDT from two different schools, including a team that reached the elimination rounds twice.
