Director of Special Education

Students who hold or will be holding a Specialist degree or Masters plus thirty-two (32) semester hours of planned graduate study in Administration or Special Education and hold or meet the requirements for Supervisor of Special Education - Instructional or Support may receive the Director of Special Education Endorsement by successfully completing the following program from the University of Northern Iowa.
 
Option 1: A Doctor of Education - Special Education administration intensive study area.
Option 2: A Specialist in Education - Special Education supervision/administrator emphasis plus 12 graduate semester hours of educational administration coursework.
Option 3: A Master's Degree with a Special Education instructional or support for K-6 and 7-12 endorsement plus thirty-two (32) semester hours of planned study in special education administration. These hours may have been a part of, or in addition to, the degree requirements.

Other Requirements

1. Meet the underlying teaching endorsements in at least two levels, Early Childhood Special Education, K-6, 7-12.   2. Meet the requirements for one of the support area endorsements of School Audiologist, School Psychologist, School Social Worker, or Speech and Language Clinician. (An applicant holding a statement of professional recognition is not eligible for the Director Endorsement.)
