College of Education Senate Election
Procedures
COE Elections
1. DETERMINE COE
POSITIONS TO BE FILLED--January: These will
include both COE Senate positions and committees.
Note By-Laws 320, 321, and 351 of COE Senate. Create a
ballot using the My Universe tool. Allow access to the
ballot on My Universe for two weeks. Remember to
open access to the ballot at 12:00 A.M. on the opening
date and 11:59 P.M. on the closing date. One ballot
for both COE elections and University committee elections
is acceptable.
2. REQUEST FOR NOMINATIONS--February:
Send a call for nominations for all COE Senate positions
to a "COE Voting Faculty." (See Appendix A)
3. SAMPLE BALLOT--February
: Prepare a sample ballot and distribute to all COE
Voting Faculty. (See Appendix
B) These positions include:
· COE Faculty Awards Committee
· COE Committee on Curriculum
· COE Graduate Studies Committee
· COE Senate
4. OFFICIAL BALLOT--March:
Open access to the official ballot on My Universe for all COE Voting Faculty.
5. ELECTION RESULTS: March
: Distribute the election results to all COE Voting
Faculty. (See Appendix C)
6. LETTERS OF CONGRATULATIONS: April : Prior to the end of Spring Semester,
send individual letters of congratulations to faculty
elected to the COE Senate or to committee positions.
University Committee
Elections
1. DETERMINE COE POSITIONS
TO BE FILLED- Create a ballot using the My Universe tool.
Allow access to the ballot on My Universe for two weeks. Remember
to open access to the ballot at 12:00 A.M. on the opening date and
11:59 P.M. on the closing date. One ballot for both COE elections
and University committee elections is acceptable.
2. REQUEST FOR NOMINATIONS--February::
Send a call for nominations for all University Committee
positions to "COE Voting Faculty." (See
Appendix D)
3. SAMPLE BALLOT--February:
Prepare a sample ballot and distribute to all COE
Voting Faculty. (See Appendix
E)
4. OFFICIAL BALLOT--March:
Open access to the official ballot on My Universe for all COE Voting Faculty.
5. ELECTION RESULTS: April:
Distribute the election results to all COE Voting
Faculty. (See Appendix F)
6. LETTERS OF CONGRATULATIONS:
May: Prior to the end of Spring Semester,
send individual letters of congratulations to all
newly elected faculty.
Guidelines
1. Only COE faculty may be elected
to COE positions.
2. Only "COE Graduate Faculty"
may vote for the COE representative to the Graduate
Council. Therefore a separate ballot must be sent
for this position.
3. For both COE and University
elections a Sample Ballot will be distributed five
days prior to the election. Anyone NOT wishing to
run must contact the Election Chair.
4. Ballots are automatically tabulated by the My Universe tool.
5. When three or more candidates
are nominated for a single position, the Hare Election
System shall be used to count votes.
6. The ballots should be
retained by the My Universe tool following the election.
