The Student Association of Middle Level Educators exists in order to:

• Unite students with similar goals and interests in middle level education.
• Provide opportunities for enlightenment and motivation at monthly meetings.
• Assist members in effectively preparing for and securing teaching positions.
• Create a forum for discussion of beliefs and ideas about middle level education.
• Create an awareness of the developmental needs of young adolescents.
• Collaborate on developing diverse teaching strategies that are effective for the middle grades.
• Promote and organize conferences, workshops, and seminars about young adolescent needs and middle level education.
• Provide a unified voice representing pre-service teachers in middle level education across the state and nationally.
