The Middle Level Education master's degree program is designed to increase the competence of educators working with young adolescents. All programs of study must be 32+ semester hours.
The student must be fully qualified for either elementary or secondary teaching upon completion of this major. If the student does not have an elementary, secondary, or K-12 teaching endorsement prior to entering the program, the student should plan to enroll in the UNI Teacher Education Program and complete coursework in Level I and Level II of the Professional Education sequence.
Thesis or Non-Thesis Options: Students may also complete the thesis option for this major (requires a total of 6 hrs. of 210:299 and other requirements to be met).Students seeking the Middle Level Teacher Endorsement may need to take specific courses in the content areas of math, science, social studies, and language arts. These courses are typically undergraduate courses. We suggest you take these courses through UNI, via UNI Correspondence Courses, or at your local community college.
