To borrow material from IRTS, you must present a UNI identification card and be a
registered UNI student or a current employee.
Present your ID and the material you wish to borrow to the Circulation Desk attendant,
who will scan your ID and then the barcode inside the cover of each item.

+ The listed checkout periods apply to undergraduates and graduates. Faculty and
AEA 7 educator members have extended loans on some material (see below). Fine rates apply
to all students.
*$10.00 replacement charge for any CD or video cases, or enclosures therein,
which are not returned.
**$25.00 lock replacement fee for lost keys.

UNI Faculty
Faculty members have loan periods on software for 1 week with one 1-week renewal. Faculty
must present UNI identification card when checking out materials.
AEA 7 Educators and Faculty Extended Loans
AEA 7 Educator loan period is 2 weeks for all materials. Fines will
become effective upon due date. All AEA 7 patrons must have an IRTS
patron information record entered into UNISTAR. AEA 7 patrons with
overdue items, lost items, or fines of $10.00 or more will have
borrowing privileges suspended until items are returned and fines paid.
Renewals
You may renew items by phone (273-6066), in person, or through UNISTAR.
Holds
If the UNISTAR screen displays a date under the STATUS line of an item you want, that
means the item is checked out and due on the date shown. You may ask us to hold it for you
when it's returned by bringing your ID card and the items call number to the
Circulation Desk. Once a hold is placed on an item, a recall notice is sent to the person
who has it. That person is entitled to keep the item for the full loan period, but may
return it sooner knowing someone is waiting for it. You will be notified by mail when the
item becomes available. A pick-up deadline will be stated on the notice; if you have not
come in for the item by that time, it will be returned to the shelves.
Recalls
If you should receive a recall notice for an item you have checked out, please bring it
back by the date indicated on the notice, as fine rates increase by .50/day for failure to
respond to a recall. This .50 is in addition to the regular overdue fine. Also, your
library checkout privileges will be blocked until all overdue recalled items are returned.
Searches
If there is no date under the STATUS line on the UNISTAR screen, but the item you want is
not on the shelves, you may come to the Circulation Desk and request that we search for
it. Bring your ID and the item's call number. If an item you've requested is found at that
time, or on subsequent searches, it will be held for you at the Circulation Desk and you
will be notified by mail.
Confidentiality of Library Records
By law the library is prohibited from revealing the name of any person who has checked
out, requested, or used library materials, except to the person him/herself.
Visitors to the Library
Persons not associated with UNI may check out library material by filling out a form at
the Circulation Desk and purchasing a Visitors Card. The Visitor's Courtesy Card
allows the use of the IRTS materials, subject to the loan periods and fine rates
specified, and subject to immediate recall whenever a UNI person requests an item a
visitor has checked out. Rates for Visitors Courtesy Cards are $5.00 for one
month, $10.00 for three months, $20.00 for six months and $40.00 for a year.

The library's Lost and Found is located behind the Circulation Desk.
