Oksana was awarded one of two Travel Leaders Scholarships from
Tourism Cares. The scholarship is given to two students per year who are
studying travel and tourism at an accredited college or university in
the United States or Canada. This is the first time a UNI student has
received an award of this type.
* What is Tourism Cares? *
Tourism Cares is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit public charity that brings
people together to give back through grants to cultural, historic, and
natural sites around the world, through scholarships and educational
programs that nurture tourism's future workforce, and volunteering to
help preserve and restore tourism-related sites in need of care and
rejuvenation.
Oksana also received the Kamerick Doctoral Dissertation Award from the
College of Education at UNI this spring. The scholarship and the award
will be used to complete her dissertation on "Deliberative Democratic
Practices in Community Tourism Planning.¨
Finally, Oksana received the Outstanding Doctoral student award from
LYHS for 2006/2007. This award was given due to the original work she
completed on various STEP projects.
Oksana - the faculty and staff want to thank you for the quality work

| The Annual Camp Adventure Youth Services Dessertfest drew nearly 1,000 family members to the event. Dr. Kala M. Stroup, President, American Humanics, Inc. Was the featured speaker and was named the recipient of the R.J. McElroy Scholar Award. Heidi A. Van Beek received the coveted Leadership Award and Susan R. Edginton received the prestigious Founders Award.

| The National Recreation and Park Association's Council on Accreditation has granted continuing accreditation to the Division of Leisure, Youth & Human Services BA degree program through the fall of 2011.

| Students from the Division of Health Promotion & Education were named as 1st place winners of the American Association for Health Education (AAHE) Annual Case Study Competition for the second year in a row. Individual team members include Elizabeth Knuth, Ali Nordgren and Megan Schellhorn.

| Human Performance Center Construction Progress. Feb. 28, 2007. |
The Human Performance Center construction continues to be completed on
time with an occupation date scheduled for December, 2007. By the end
of March, concrete flooring will be completed and framing for both
floors will be well underway.
