Physical Education Teaching Majors receive preparation to design, deliver and assess developmentally appropriate physical education curricula and the corresponding unit and lesson plans. Students choosing this major will have the opportunity to focus their studies on developing and delivering programs that encourage and assist individuals to pursue healthy, active lifestyles in and out of the public school settings. Students will take course work that highlights both the content and pedagogical knowledge essential to become effective teachers. Candidates who complete this major will be endorsed to teach physical education from Kindergarten through 12th grade within the state of Iowa.
