GOALS & OBJECTIVES |

Goal 1: Provide intellectually stimulating and challenging experiences for students that broaden and deepen their perspective and awareness. |
|
|
Objective 1.1: |
Provide rigorous graduate and undergraduate degree programs designed to prepare students for careers in the various disciplines of the School of HPELS. |
| Objective 1.2: |
Continue to strengthen the Personal Wellness general education requirement. |
| Objective 1.3: |
Pursue the development and implementation of an intercultural/international curriculum model. |
| Objective 1.4: |
Create opportunities for promoting student professional development. |
| Objective 1.5: |
Emphasize and expand multiculturalism in all learning opportunities provided for students. |
| Objective 1.6: |
Provide learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students that include opportunities for experiential learning. |

Promote student research, scholarship, and creative activities. |

| Goal 2: Increase invovlement and contribution to the growth of the HPELS professions |
| Objective 2.1: |
Contribute to the growth of the disciplinary knowledge base for the various disciplines of the School of HPELS and in the professional practices that ensue. |

Demonstrate the interconnection between basic research and application (i.e., promote Scholarship of Service). |
| Objective 2.3: |
Effectively infuse contemporary methodology in classroom teaching. |
| Objective 2.4: |
Increase HPELS involvement and visibility in the University-wide honors program. |

| Goal 3: Expand the involvement of the School of HPELS in addressing critical local, state, national, and global needs that enrich educational experiences for students and scholarly opportunities for faculty. |

Organize and expand international program efforts. |

Identify contemporary local, state, national, and global needs that are amenable to intervention efforts originating in the School of HPELS. |
| Objective 3.3: |
Establish new programmatic initiatives, or modify current programs in support of changing societal needs, as well as supply and demand issues. |

Provide off-campus instruction through distant learning technology. |

| Goal 4: Strengthen the School of HPELS culture characterized by its innovative qualities and entrepreneurial activities as well as its diversity, collegiality and mutual respect. |

Recruit, sustain and retain diverse and highly qualified faculty and staff. |

Increase the number and graduation rates of American ethnic minority students and international students. |

Pursue and strengthen mutually beneficial relationships within the School of HPELS. |

Promote an environment for personal and professional development of all faculty in the School of HPELS. |

Contribute to the College of Education Advisory Board and establish and maintain advisory groups within each Division of the School of HPELS. |

Maintain and strengthen relationships with alumni, students, and parents. |

Establish and effectively market demonstration projects, learning conferences, and performance groups. |
| Objective 6.4: |
Form relationships with faculty, professional leaders, and state and federal decision-makers. |

Establish partnerships with other educational institutions, agencies, corporations, and professional organizations. |

Develop an advocacy capability that serves the interests of the University, College of Education, and School of HPELS. |
