Biography
Jane Toerner is originally from Cincinnati , Ohio . She received her M.A. in Ed. from UNI in l982 and acquired ACSM certification as a Health and Fitness Instructor in 1984. She has served the School of Health , Physical Education and Leisure Services as an adjunct and full-time temporary instructor since 1982. Currently, she is teaching personal wellness lecture and lab classes, physical education classes and coordinating internship experiences in physical education. Jane has also worked and served the community in hospital, recreation centers, schools, businesses and organizations as a health and fitness coordinator, instructor, personal trainer and presenter. In 1996, Jane acquired both national and state licensure in massage therapy. Her professional interests include teaching, prevention of lifestyle diseases and disorders, fitness and performance in older adults and massage as it relates to injury prevention, rehabilitation and recovery in athletic performance.
