The University of Northern Iowa is seeking an Assistant Professor in the Division of Physical Education in the School of Health, Physical Education and Leisure Services. This position involves teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, scholarship and research, professional service and advising, and supervision of master and undergraduate student thesis/research projects. The successful candidate would teach courses in two or more of the following areas: teaching methods, measurement and evaluation in physical education, technology in physical education, and adapted physical education. As an accredited teacher preparation program in the State of Iowa, Professional Education Faculty members are responsible for incorporating Chapter 79, Iowa Code, “Responsibilities of Professional Education Faculty Members,” in their professional activities.
Required qualifications include: an earned doctorate or Ph.D. in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or closely related field (ABDs will be considered with evidence of completion of degree within six months of start date), plus demonstrated ability to establish a research agenda. Public school and/or university teaching experience, familiarity with state-of-the-art technology, and record of professional and public service preferred.
