Requirements:
Admission to the Student Affairs program is based on the following requirements:
- a completed Application to Graduate Study form (PDF) or (online)

- a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- an "official" transcript of all previous undergraduate and graduate credit (mailed by Registrar's Office to UNI Registrar's Office)
- at least a 3.0 G.P.A.
- a two-page essay in which you discuss your motivation to join the Student Affairs profession. You may want to describe how your life has been impacted by interaction with a student life professional, or you may want to relate a story about an experience that drew you to working in this field
- three letters of recommendation written by persons familiar with your academic ability and potential for student affairs work
- résumé
- applicants for whom English is not their first language must complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language Examination (TOEFL) and achieve a score of at least 600
[Note: GRE is not required for admission to the Master's degree program.]
A campus visit and meeting with program faculty is strongly encouraged.

Educational Leadership Ed.D. Intensive Study Area with study in Postsecondary Education

Requirements:
Admission ot the Educational Leadership program is based on the following requirements:
- a completed Application for Graduate Study form (PDF) or (online)

- a completed College of Education application
- a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
- an "official" transcript of all undergraduate and graduate credit (mailed by Registrar's Office to UNI Registrar's Office)
- at least a 3.5 G.P.A.
- Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test results submitted to UNI's Registrar's Office directly from the Educational Testing Service and must be submitted prior to consideration for admission
- Official GRE Writing Assessment Test (GRE) results submitted to UNI's Registrar's Office directly from the Educational Testing Service and must be submitted prior to consideration for admission
- minimum of three years of professional educational experience
- three letters of recommendation must be submitted from individuals familiar with the applicant's potential for advanced professional study, at least one from a professor familiar with the applicant as a student and at least one from an educational employer/supervisor
- applicants for whom English is not their first language must complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language Examination (TOEFL) and achieve a score of at least 600
Applicants are encouraged to complete applications well in advance of the term they wish to begin study and should be sent to: Educational Leadership, Counseling, and Postsecondary Education Department, University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA 50614-0604 by February 1.
