Masters in Student Affairs
Student affairs work is an applied professional field which is supported by a large theoretical base from disciplines such as psychology, sociology, education, management, and others. Students are exposed to knowledge extracted from quantitative research which focuses on objectivity and control as well as research which values qualitative methods, tacit knowledge, inductive reasoning, and multiple perspectives. Our programs emphasize a blend of classroom learning with practical experiences. You and your advisor will develop an appropriate selection of courses totaling at least 44 semester hours of credit. This program will incorporate a number of required courses to fulfill several academic and professional objectives, practica, internships, and elective courses which reflect your professional goals, interest, personal preferences, and previous experiences in or relating to student affairs. Both thesis and nonthesis options are available.

Ed.D. in Postsecondary Education
The Educational Leadership program of study focusing on Postsecondary Education, pursued in conjunction with the College of Education doctoral core courses, individually designed Related Studies, internship, and dissertation research, seeks to prepare its graduates to be scholar practitioners in the increasingly complex environments of 21st century colleges and universities.

Educational Contexts - to know the historical development of higher education and contemporary educational contexts so that one may understand the origins and evolution of structures and influences on practices of higher education, thereby informing best current practice

Discipline of Inquiry and Practice to develop and apply a scholarly habits of mind to complex practitioner settings in postsecondary education

Organizational Studies - to understand organizational structures and culture in order to be more sophisticated observers, analysts, and effective leaders within their institutional context

Curriculum, Teaching and Learning - to understand curriculum and pedagogy related to knowledge growth and its use in order to better structure organizations and develop programs and processes that facilitate effective teaching and learning

Economics and Finance - to understand the resource environment and fiscal management of postsecondary education in order to be effective stewards of institutional resources
