GRADUATE ASSISTANT RESIDENCE HALL DIRECTOR
This is a part-time, ten-month position. Responsible for coordinating a total residential life program in two residence halls (housing a total of 200 students) resulting in the maximum growth of the individual residents and the living community as a whole. The Graduate Assistant Residence Hall Director reports directly to the Director of Residence Life. As a graduate student the person must consult with the Director to enroll in more than six credits per semester.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Responsible for the administration of Founders Hall and The Residence including paperwork, key inventory, opening and closing halls, adjudicate initial disciplinary issues, damage reporting and following up with maintenance requests (25%)
2) Select, train, and evaluate five student Resident Assistants (10%)
3) Coordinate selection, assist and follow-up with service-learning projects in The Residence (10%)
4) In conjunction with students, staff, and Student Life Offices creates and promotes educational programming in the residence halls (10%)
5) Participate in Residence Life staff meetings and Student Life staff meetings (10%)
6) Maintain regular, scheduled office hours to meet the needs of students and Residential Life office. (10%)
7) Establish a positive working relationship with maintenance personnel (5%)
8) Meet biweekly with the Director of Residence Life (5%)
9) Serve as a resource to other Hall Directors in performance of duties and sharing of skills (5%)
10) Perform other duties as assigned (5%)
Qualifications:
Requires Bachelor’s degree and previous residence hall experience; understanding of and desire to work in a small college environment; and leadership, interpersonal, and administrative skills. Prefer a candidate who has an appreciation of service and volunteer work.
Compensation:
* Stipend of $8000 for 10-month appointment (mid-August to mid-June)
* Furnished apartment plus utilities and Ethernet connection, cable TV service
* Full board plan
* Reserved parking space; free admission to most College events; access to Library and PE Center
