Graduate Student possibilities
January 18, 2008
Communications: UNIAA is revamping its communications strategies. This position would work closely with the UNIAA President and staff in developing and implementing strategies and tactics.
Position could also write, edit and publish the monthly electronic newsletter, assist with creating targeted messages for e-distribution, and maintain the UNIAA website.
Possibilities exist for writing, editing and assisting with the Northern Iowa Today (alumni magazine).
CATS: work closely with new student alumni program; assist advisor and students in group dynamics, programming and operations. The group’s work is closely aligned with the goals of the UNIAA and works with the alumni staff in developing campus and community connections between students and alumni.
This is one of the most important components of the UNIAA effort to engage the student body. The advisor is a recognized leader nationally in student alumni programs. The office also employs two nationally recognized student alumni leaders.
Legacy Program: UNIAA seeks to establish an Alumni Legacy program. This position will research peer programs, provide recommendations for types of programs and services to recognize and engage legacy families, and work closely with the UNIPA (Parent Association) and UNIAA staff to implement programs and services. There is a potential fundraising component to this program (we have some great ideas for passive ways to raise dollars).
This position will work closely with the UNIAA president and the three assistant directors.
Volunteer Network: UNIAA has a fledgling volunteer network centered on three areas: admissions, career services and legislative advocacy. We need to improve communications and serving these areas. Each has its opportunities and the GA could select an area of interest or chose to work from a global perspective. This position would work closely with the UNIAA President and assistant director for outreach and engagement.
General Program Assistant: Work as needed on projects as needed. Responsibilities may include program logistics, interactions with staff and campus on planning and execution of special events, managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
Marketing: Work closely with UNIAA President and assistant director for membership and operations in researching, creating and executing strategies for increasing the visibility of the Association, increasing dues memberships and sponsorships.
