The Principalship Preparation Program
 
 
  • Program Requirements and Outcomes Based on the Iowa Standards for School Leaders (ISSL) Integrated with the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC)) Standards
  • Program Offered State-Wide Via the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) over Three (3) Academic Years and Two (2) Intervening Summers
  • Students Are Required to be on Campus the First Summer Session of the Program
  • Thirty-six Hours of Coursework for the PK-12 Principalship Endorsement
  • A New Cohort Begins Each Fall Semester
  • Cohort Delivery Model
  • Instruction Grounded in Leadership Theory and Practice
  • Instructional Delivery Grounded in Reflective Practice, Adult Learning Theory, and Experiential/Problem-Based Activities
  • Campus-Based Faculty Team-Teach with Field Professors/Mentors in Classroom and Clinical Settings
  • Practicing Principals Supervise the Integrated two (2) or three (3) year Internship Experience (depending on the program)
  • Performance-Based Standards Reflected in Coursework, Course-Related Internship Activities, Site-Determined Internship Experiences, Critical Element Reflective Research Papers, and the Development and Presentation of the Professional Portfolio to a Faculty/Mentor Review Team
