Students who have already earned a Master's degree may chose to apply for an Advanced Study Certificate (ASC) rather than apply for a second Master's.

  • Program Requirements and Outcomes Based on the Iowa Standards for School Leaders (ISSL)
  • Program Offered State-Wide Via the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) over Two and One-Half Academic Years and Two (2) Intervening Summers
  • Students Are Required to be on Campus the First Summer Session of the Program
  • Thirty-seven Hours of Coursework for the PK-12 Principalship Endorsement
  • Cohort Delivery Model
  • A New Cohort Begins Each Fall Semester
  • Instruction Grounded in Leadership Theory and Practice
  • Instructional Delivery Grounded in Reflective Practice, Adult Learning Theory, and Experiential/Problem-Based Activities
  • Campus-Based Faculty Collaborate with Field Professors/Mentors in Classroom and Clinical Settings
  • Practicing Principals Supervise the Integrated two (2) or two and one-half year Internship Experience (depending on the program)
  • Performance-Based Standards Reflected in Coursework, Course-Related Internship Activities, Site-Determined Internship Experiences, Critical Element Reflective Research Papers, and the Development and Presentation of the Professional Portfolio to a Faculty/Mentor Review Team
