Early Childhood Special Education Program
On November 3rd the Early Childhood Special Education program hosted an event for its students. Over 50 students attended this event including 25 undergraduates, 5 full time MAE students, and 23 teachers who are taking coursework for their early childhood special education endorsement. Saturday morning content focused on a project that the teachers have completed throughout the semester. This project required each teacher to collaborate with a interdisciplinary team of early childhood providers to improve the quality of services that young children receive. The students discussed and presented their assignments on Saturday AM. During the afternoon Kim Paisley, her son Austin, and daughter Bethany spoke about their experiences with special education teachers and service providers. The family provided tips and recommendations for how teachers can work effectively with families.
