Supervision of Special Education - Instructional
Students who hold or will be holding a Master of Arts in Education - Special Education plus thirty (30) hours in special education (instructional) may receive the Supervision of Special Education - Instructional Endorsement by successfully completing the following program from the University of Northern Iowa.
Option 1: A specialist in Education -- Special Education Supervision degree.
Option 2: A Master of Arts in Education -- Special Education with a Special Education instructional endorsement, Chapter 73.2, plus thirty (30) graduate semester hours. These hours may have been part of a degree program.
Option 3: A Master's Degree in another area of education programs, plus thirty (30) graduate semester hours may have been part of, or in addition to, the degree requirements.
CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
SPED 6278 Administration of Special Education, 3 Hours
SPED 6289 Seminar in Special Education, 3 Hours
SPED 6290 Practicum in Special Education-Supervision (not required for students with two or more years of Special Education Administrative/Supervisory experience), 3 Hours
EDLEAD 6245 Leadership, 3 hours
EDLEAD 6284 Evaluator Approval for Improved Student Learning, 3 Hours
EDLEAD 7310 Human Resource Administration
MEASRES 6279 Educational Program Evaluation, 3 Hours
ELECTIVES IN EDUCATION -- 9 Hours
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- The student must hold or meet the requirements for one K-8 and 5-12 Special Education teaching endorsement.
- The student must hold or meet the requirements for the Special Education Consultant endorsement
- The student must have two (2) years of consultant, supervisor, head teacher, or equivalent experience in Special Education
