Dr. Ficklin is an assistant professor in Physical Education and Movement and Exercise Science at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). At UNI, he directs the Monica Wild Biomechanics Research Laboratory and conducts research in sport performance. He came to UNI from Bloomington, IN, where he completed his Ph.D. in Biomechanics, with a minor in computer science. He researches throwing mechanics such as those of the windmill softball pitching and overhand baseball pitching techniques as well as striking mechanics like those of batting and golf swing techniques. In addition to utilizing state-of-the-art 3-D motion capture, he writes software for data analysis. Dr. Ficklin is a member of The American Society of Biomechanics and The American College of Sports Medicine. He teaches courses in biomechanics, lab instrumentation, programming, and softball/baseball coaching theory.
